14U Silver Coach

I have loved the sport of volleyball since I was born. I got involved at a young age as my mom was the freshman coach at our high school. Growing up in the northwest there are not a lot of volleyball playing opportunities so most of my knowledge of the game comes from watching my mom coach.  I also would love to watch college matches on TV, observing and increasing my knowledge of the game.

I became involved with coaching my sophomore year of high school when the JV coach asked me to help out. This really opened my eyes to the aspect of coaching and I enjoyed every minute of it. I ended up assisting at my high school for three years. Currently I am a student intern for the volleyball team at George Fox University, having just finished my second season. Last year I was an assistant coach for Willamette Valley Volleyball Club.

As a coach, I am a stickler for fundamentals and mechanics. I believe that you cannot reinforce ball control enough to players. Combining aggressiveness and intelligence gives me the aggressively-smart style of play I enjoy. Volleyball is a unique sport with how simply complex it is. I enjoy the positivity it brings out of players, coaches, and spectators, as well as the excitement it places on the parents.
