February has been a great month for WVVC, our teams have accomplished so much and we are making history. For the first time in the history of WVVC we have a team in the top 16 of CEVA Power League, this is a great accomplishment and speaks of the years spent developing a great program. Our 14U Gold team has continued moving up the ranks, starting off the season at 23, they took 2nd in the February Power League to move up to 16. Other highlights for our teams this month in Power League: 15U Gold placed 2nd moving up to the next division, 16U Silver also took 2nd moving them up a division. 18U Gold was the winners of their Power League tournament, they too are moving up!
This past weekend 3 of our teams competed at the annual President’s Weekend Tourney in Seattle. Hundreds of teams from all 3 regions of the Northwest came together for this tournament. The competition is great and WVVC had a great showing once again. Our 14U Gold team and 16U Gold team came out strong the first day with both teams winning their pool, placing them to compete at the top. The second day brought their way some tough competition, competing against the top teams in all the regions, both teams finished the day putting them to compete in the Silver bracket for the final day of the tournament. On day 3 both teams made it to the championship game and finished 2nd in Silver. 14U Gold and 16U Gold both finished 10th out of the 64 teams in each age division. Job well done! Our 18U Gold team, being short handed for most of the first day with injury, faced some great competition. The 2nd day they were determined and played hard all day with every match going to 3 games, they were first in their pool winning 2 of the 3 matches. Coming out strong the 3rd day, competing in the Bronze Division they won their first match, lost their 2nd match to a tough team that they played on day one. Great job 18’s you pulled together, which is what great teams do.
We have 3 teams competing this weekend at The Hoop in Salem. Good luck 14U Silver, 14U Blue, and 16U Silver!
